PCC-Tactical Division

Aero-JP 9mm PCC

  • Lower: Aero 9mm Glock lower, CMC 9mm trigger, Taccom magwell, Blitzkrieg PCC buffer and Luth carbine stock
  • Upper: JP BCG, JP HG, JP brake, Anderson receiver, KVP barrel
  • Vortex Strikefire red dot
  • 40rnd ETS, TF extended 27rnd, ETS-MBX extended 57rnd mags and Magpul D-50 drum
  • 124gr Xtreme RN loads (4.2gr N320, Win SPP primers, 1.10 OAL)

Lee’s 224Valkyrie AR

  • 224V AR
  • Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x
  • Lee’s 224V ammo

Removed the Tac-light from the PCC as it got in the way with ports. Besides, this isn’t a night shoot.

Stage 2

  • P1 – 4/4; P2 – 5/4; P3 – 5/4.
  • Safety was sticking so flicking it on and off for movement took some fiddling with.
  • 13th out of 49.

Stage 3

  • Not seen: big balloon filled bag with a bell making us look like tactical elves. Bag had to be carried, so the first steps is taking the bag and shouldering it.
  • Mags staged, reload required at each position.
  • Clean, 4th.

Stage 4

  • PCC can only shoot in the back positions. Start at the middle back position, shooting freestyle. Left position shot left shouldered, right position shot right shouldered (freestyle).
  • Id’d my targets at each position; shot as planned.
  • Shooting left shouldered and I tried shouldering on the left but working the trigger with my right hand (rather than the ‘normal’ left shoulder, left hand shooting). Had to close my right eye so my left eye could see through the red dot. First time shooting this way and I think normal weak shoulder shooting is more comfortable.
  • Clean; 4th.

Stage 5

  • Start seated, gun staged on table. Engage only the popper from this position.
  • Left to right from the second position.
  • Not seen: back kick to the popper/activator for the clamshell. The popper was a step or 2 deep behind the wall. With my left foot planted where I needed it to be for shooting, I quickly looked back (twice) to sight the popper and back-kicked it. Enough time to hit the clamshell.
  • Finish on the tree and last paper.
  • Clean; 6th.

Stage 1

  • Start in car, gun with mag in, chamber empty.
  • Takes me a few seconds to get out of the car.
  • Rack, then ran the plan. Drum loaded with Norma 115gr Training ammo.
  • First area, saved time by bending over instead kneeling to shoot through the low port.
  • Climbed the ramp, but getting down was sloooow.
  • Steel 1 for 1 at the 75yd steel.
  • Clean; 11th

The Good

  • Clean match.
  • PCC work.
  • Norma 115s good for PCC LR.
  • Magpul drum works.
  • Being able to run.

Needs Improvement

  • Mobility work.
  • Keep on with cleaning up the diet and rehabbing the right leg.
  • Keep working on mobility.

Finished 6th out of 51 overall and 1st out of 15 in PCC-Tac.

Limited Optics Division

STI DVC LO

  • Borrowing Lee P’s STI DVC setup for Limited Optics
  • Polymer grip from Open Edge
  • Sig Romeo 3XL dot
  • Gas pedal
  • MBX 140mm mags (24, 23rnd)
  • 124gr Xtreme RN loads (4.2gr N320, Fiocchi SPP primers, 1.12 OAL)
  • 115gr Federal ammo

Accuracy first. Focusing on a clean match and good hits (Alphas).

Stage 4

  • Could start on the right-most side of the wall for all the targets I shot through the 2 ports. This would be my normal plan. Instead, chose the 2 positions with the ports so I’d be coming in on the right array fully visible, rather than making a sharp turn if I’d come from cutting from the right.
  • Steel 1 for 1 to end.
  • Clean; 24th out of 39.

Stage 1

  • Classifier. Gun unloaded on table, hands in surrender. 2 each, reload, 2 each.
  • Used Federal 115s. Hit my initial load and reload.
  • Clean; 14th.

Stage 2

  • Gun on the barrel, hands on the barrel. As fast as I could off the bat, and backing up on the last.
  • Quick on the middle flanks, slower on the far ones.
  • Clean; 12th.

Stage 3

  • Unloaded start, hands in surrender. Practiced loading the 24 round mag on ‘Make Ready’ trying to set muscle memory on what was needed to seat the full mag. Mag didn’t fall out on the first shot, so initial load was good.
  • Went right instead of left as most did as it was closer.
  • All that prepping to load the 24 round mag for the 24 round course is out the window with the extra on the steel.
  • Reload from the middle to the left.
  • Clean; 24th.

Stats: 63A, 18C, 2D (Previous WAC LO stats: 64A, 16C, 5D, 1M, 1NS)

The Good

  • Clean match. Focus on accuracy and not so much on speed.
  • Good A-C ratio.
  • Good empty starts and reloads.
  • I can run.

Needs Improvement

  • Accuracy is back, back to ‘maxtrap splits’ for the next match.
  • Steel needs to be 1 for 1.
  • Need speed on splits and target appropriate splits.
  • Keep up maintenance on the right leg so I can keep running.

Finished 17th out of 39 overall and 5th out of 12 in LO.

STI DVC LO

  • Borrowing Lee P’s STI DVC setup for Limited Optics
  • Polymer grip from Open Edge
  • Sig Romeo 3XL dot
  • Gas pedal
  • MBX 140mm mags (24, 23rnd)
  • 124gr PD RNHP RN loads (4.1gr N320, Fiocchi SPP primers, 1.12 OAL)

Romeo 3XL came in, and replaces the flickering RTS2.

Zeroed at Shootstraight right before the match (15yd zero) using 124gr (Berrys/Xtreme/PD) loads.

Stage 2

  • Blended left array and right array. Trying to keep up with baseline (“maxtrap”) splits. Slowing down for the tuxes.
  • Clean; 4th out of 44.

Stage 3

  • 3 positions, splitting the far right array of 2 between the 2nd and 3rd positions instead of through the port before the 2nd position for a 4th position.
  • Clean; 16th, but 2 C-Ds too many. Need more As.

Stage 4

  • Sound plan with more straight line travel, rather than bendy, even uprange travel.
  • Extra on the steel; this puts me right at my capacity.
  • Called a high shot on the 2nd to the last target but didn’t makeup (actually couldn’t). M on the hardcover.
  • 1M; 22nd.

Stage 1

  • Classifier. Same as from Ruskin a few matches ago. Weak hand requirement on the last 3 targets.
  • Same plan as from Ruskin a few matches ago.
  • NS on the last target while shooting weak hand. At least it broke the perf.
  • 1NS; 28th.

Stats: 64A, 16C, 5D, 1M, 1NS (Previous WAC LO stats: 53A, 22C, 2D, 1M)

The Good

  • Good A-C ratio.
  • Stage 4
    • Alphas.
    • Good splits but slowing down for the tuxes (target appropriate).
    • Nothing special but good basics. GOOD BASICS.
  • 3XL runs, nice big dot.
  • PD loads run.
  • Consciously trying to speed up splits.
  • I can run.

Needs Improvement

  • Clean match.
  • Need speed on splits and target appropriate splits.
  • Keep up maintenance on the right leg so I can keep running.

Finished 17th out of 44 overall and 4th out of 10 in LO.

  • Gas pedal
  • MBX 140mm mags (24, 23rnd)
  • 124gr Xtreme RN loads (4.2gr N320, Fiocchi SPP primers, 1.12 OAL)

At last match, I set a baseline split pace. Objective is to keep this pace.

Stage 4

  • First array has a maxtrap, so I can actually set the pace. Aaaand the pace slows down as the targets go.
  • Last target (NS), has only 1 hit.
  • 1M; 26th out of 47.

Stage 1

  • Classifier – from now and for the next few weeks before the Florida State match, there will be classifiers at the WAC matches.
  • Tried to replicate Tuesday’s S1 by going on the steel first. The standard approach was paper first, then steel, so any makeups could be taken care of. Going with steel first could mean a second reload if there were any left standing and moved on to paper.
  • Clean; 18th.

Stage 2

  • Start up close to set the pace… which drops off on the next 3. LOL
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • Clean; 30th.

Stage 3

  • Set the pace on the first 3 targets.
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • Haul ass then as fast as I can.
  • Clean; 17th.

Stats: 53A, 22C, 2D, 1M (Previous WAC LO stats: 74A, 17C, 1NS)

The Good

  • Ok A-C ratio.
  • Consciously trying to speed up splits.
  • I can run.

Needs Improvement

  • RTS2 flickers – Romeo3XL on the way.
  • Need speed on splits and target appropriate splits.
  • Keep up maintenance on the right leg so I can keep running.

Finished 27th out of 47 overall and 7th out of 11 in LO.

  • MBX 140mm mags (24, 23rnd)
  • 124gr Xtreme RN loads (4.2gr N320, Fiocchi SPP primers, 1.12 OAL)

Keeping on with LO.

Stage 4

  • Extra on the steel; need 1 for 1.
  • Sped up after the reload on the first 2, but pace slowed on the 3rd. Why?
  • Clean; 18th out of 45.

Stage 1

  • Debated going safe going left to right on the steel, then just doing the headshot on the now closed maxtrap.
  • Figured if I missed the reload shooting the activator last, it’d be a headshot anyway.
  • Hit my reload and a wide open maxtrap. Sometimes a blind squirrel finds a nut.
  • Clean; 3rd.
  • 2A on the maxtrap. Shot it fastest of all the paper. Not counting the no-shoot, I could’ve shot the others – or at least the one other stationary wide open – as fast as the maxtrap. Need to remember I can do that and get comfortable with that pace.

Stage 2

  • Positional stage and going as planned until the very last shot that nicks the no-shoot.
  • 1NS; 20th.

Stage 3

  • Pretty straight forward up until the end where the 3 on the right could be blended with those on the left. Different possibilities; this was mine.
  • Clean; 18th.

Stats: 74A, 17C, 1NS (Previous WAC LO stats: 64A, 23C)

The Good

  • Great A-C ratio, no Ds.
  • Stage 1
    • Steel 1 for 1.
    • Fast reload.
    • *Baseline* splits on the maxtrap which should be applicable to other similar targets.
  • Gun ran.
  • I can run.

Needs Improvement

  • RTS2 flickers – Romeo3XL on the way.
  • Need speed on splits and target appropriate splits. – Use the maxtrap as baseline
  • Keep up maintenance on the right leg so I can keep running.

Keeping on with LO prepping for FL State match in January.

Stage 4

  • Boiled down to 2.5 positions.
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • Splits need speed.
  • Clean; 11th out of 43.

Stage 1

  • Positional stage. No other way to run it.
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • Splits need speed.
  • Clean; 27th.

Stage 2

  • Ran this opposite from everyone as getting to the right was quicker than going left.
  • On the move for the middle.
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • Clean; 19th.

Stage 3

  • Went right, again because it was quicker than going left.
  • Clean; 15th.

Stats: 64A, 23C (Previous WAC LO stats: 81A, 16C, 3D)

The Good

  • Clean match.
  • Good A-C ratio; no Ds.
  • Berrys accuracy issue seems to have disappeared.
  • Gun ran.
  • I can run.

Needs Improvement

  • RTS2 flickers – ordered Romeo 3XL.
  • Need speed on splits and target appropriate splits.
  • Keep up maintenance on the right leg so I can keep running.

Posted match for 12-15 but forgot I hadn’t done the one for Tuesday (12-12) yet.

Stage 1

  • Good splits, even for the far first 2.
  • Hit my reload, then on the move for the middle.
  • Clean; 21st out of 44.

Stage 2

  • Steel 1 for 1 to start.
  • Lucked out on the swinger timing.
  • Extras on the rack – 6 for the 4.
  • Clean; 22nd.

Stage 3

  • Screwed up starting the hatcam, no video.
  • Fast left to right, up close stage with a reload near the end.
  • Clean; 12th.

Stage 4

  • 1 extra on the 3 poppers.
  • Kinda on the move for the middle.
  • Clean; 12th.

Stage 5

  • Gun loaded on table, toes touching the table legs.
  • Opted to shoot everything from the back, including the round plates. Too many extras.
  • Reload, then right side. Swinger was on an instant drop from the popper so really should’ve shot it immediately after the popper. NPM on the swinger.
  • NPM, 12th out of 34.

Stage 1

  • Ran as planned but extras on the star (1 on the left, 3 on the right).
  • Clean; 10th.

Stage 2

  • Position – position – position.
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • Clean; 6th.

Stage 3

  • Plan is the same from previous matches at HSC as the layout hasn’t changed.
  • Clean; 9th.

Stage 4 (Classifier)

  • Right to left as the 2 in the middle were immediately visible after the first 2.
  • Caught myself looking for hits on the no-shoot in the middle.
  • Clean; 10th.

Stats: 97A, 14C, 1D, 1NPM (Previous HSC LO stats: 94A, 23C, 1D, 1M)

The Good

BA-NFSC 18″

  • 18″ NFSC – 18″ New Frontier Side Charging upper on the M&P lower with JP trigger and SCSS. Strike Eagle 1-8 primary, offset Sightmark mini-dot, Rolling Thunder brake, using my 55gr and 69gr loads.
  • Ballistic Advantage (BA) lower – JP trigger, JP SCSS, Magpul ACS stock
  • 69gr loads
    • 69gr SMK, 24.1gr TAC, Topbrass re-spec’d brass, SRP
  • 55gr loads:
    • Berrys 55gr, 24.1gr TAC, Topbrass re-spec’d brass, SRP
  • Magpul 30rnd dual mags and D60 drum

RIA VR80

  • Magpul K grip and Luth stock
  • Holosun 510c primary
  • 24 and 11 round mags (Taccom and TF extended)
  • Federal Target (1200fps) birdshot
  • Protective sleeve to shield from gases

Last 3gun at Manatee for 2023.

Stage 2

  • Steel at 100, 250 and 350yds from the 3 positions, with paper in between.
  • Used the dual mags with 69s and 55s. Mag change after the first 2 LR positions so shot all the paper with the 55s, then switched back to the 69s for the last position. LR steel 1 for 1!
  • Pistol loaded with 1 round only, no mag. Reload after the first attempt and hit the 75yd steel on the 5th.
  • 25th out of 54.
  • Mobility issues evident as I go into and out of prone and seated positions. Keep on working on mobility and getting myself off the ground quicker.

Stage 3

  • Could’ve started at the barricade but opted for more travel for better visibility. Most steel dropped from the first position. Going great up until the malfunction – FTF(eed). Mag change to fix.
  • Pistol to end.
  • 2FTNs; 17th.

Stage 4

  • Steel 1 for 1 with the pistol. Problem is I forget the last pistol paper on the far left. FTE.
  • Brain malfunction as I then forget to go to the rifle next.
  • SG malfunctions after the first shot (this was with the RIA extension). Reload with the Panzer and TF extension and finish.
  • 1FTE; 28th.

Stage 5

  • SG goes well at the start, up until the FTF. Again. Reload with the Panzer to fix.
  • Pistol and rifle are uneventful.
  • Clean; 14th.

Stage 1

  • 24rnd mag loaded only to 10 and it still malfunctions. Reload with the Panzer and finish with the SG.
  • Pistol uneventful.
  • More mobility issues getting out of the van. Load the rifle on the way to the barricade.
  • From the barricade, 3 steel at around 100yds. From each VTAC, 3 positions and positions can’t be re-used on the second. I’d chosen 2-4-7 for the first then 1-3-9 for the second but I timed out.
    • Port 2 – 2, 3, 1 – and this is the ‘easiest’ port
    • Port 4 – 4, 4, 1 (with gun canted left, aim high right)
    • Port 7 – 1, 1, x
  • 10FTEs; 33rd.

The Good

  • In general, LR rifle work except for S1.
  • Pistol ran.
  • Able to run.

Needs Improvement

  • VR80 (mags? cleaning?)
  • Verify POI for canted rifle and adjusted POA.
  • Continue leg PT for more dynamic movement (ex. exiting a van).

Finished 20th out of 54 overall and 11th out of 24 in Open. We finished late, almost 5pm; a long day.

No Florida North Sectional for me, given my performance the past few matches. But keeping up with LO for Florida State.

Stage 2

  • 6-6-6
  • Extra on steel from the start. Should’ve gone right to left.
  • Bill drill is good – 1 charlie.
  • Extra on steel in the end.
  • Clean; 25th out of 50.

Stage 3

  • Whittled down to 2 positions.
  • Good plan but no-shoots had 3 mikes.
  • 3M; 37th.

Stage 4

  • Position 1 – reload – P2, P3
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • Hit the activator 2x to drop it faster.
  • Clean; 18th.
  • No-shoots hits were in the head area. POA is high chest area – Berrys are shooting high, hence the 3 mikes at S3.

Stage 1

  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • Ran as planned.
  • Clean; 23rd.

Stats: 66A, 21C, 1D, 3M (Previous WAC LO stats: 49A, 34C, 3D, 1M, 1NS )

The Good

  • Better stats than last.
  • Ok A-C ratio.
  • Gun ran.
  • I can run.

Needs Improvement

  • RTS2 flickers – need to replace with a RomeoMax or similar.
  • Berrys shoot high – either burn off the Berrys or save them for PCC.
  • Need speed on splits and target appropriate splits.
  • Keep up maintenance on the right leg so I can keep running.

Finished 24th out of 50 overall and 6th out of 8 in LO.
