PCC Division

  • ZRTS – Gibbz – Taccom 9mm PCC
    • Lower: ZRTS-1 9mm Glock lower, JP yellow springs, Blitzkreig hydraulic buffer with short stroke spacer, 308 carbine spring and MFT Minimalist stock
    • Upper: Gibbz side charger with Taccom extreme feed barrel with muzzle break and Taccom 9mm bolt
    • Bushnell TRS-25 primary and Vortex Venom secondary
    • 125gr BlB loads
    • ETS 40 round mag

Stage 1

  • Extreme lean on the 2 on the left throws me off a bit.
  • Steel needs to be 1 for 1.
  • 12th out of 55

Stage 2

  • Start toes on dots and rifle muzzle on the top mark (hence the weird position).
  • Middle array on the move.
  • 7th

Stage 3

  • Trigger freeze on the first target, hence the slow start.
  • 10th.

Stage 4

  • Tried to go as fast as I could, but still respecting the no-shoots.
  • 5th

The Good

  • Clean match
  • More shooting on the move
  • Better target appropriate splits

Needs Improvement

  • Plan stages so there is less ‘down time’, mostly from lengthy travel.
  • Keep on challenging myself to go faster
  • Shooting on the move
  • Extreme lean shots

Finished 7th out of 55 overall and 3rd out of 11 in PCC.

3G Frostproof, 2-22-20

February 26, 2020

Open Division

  • Open Edge in .40SW using 155gr BB RN loads
  • 18″ NFSC – 18″ New Frontier Side Charging upper on the M&P lower with JP trigger and SCSS, Strike Eagle 1-8, offset mini-dot, Rolling Thunder comp, SCSS, Armaspec magwell, Federal 55gr and a mix of Frontier and PPU 69gr ammo.
  • DA Vepr 12 – Venom dot, Remington Target (1200fps) and Federal Premium High Bird (1330fps).

Stage 2

  • Let’s get the excuses out of the way: last 3gun match was A6 in December so a bit rusty…
  • Good rifle splits, shotgun needs speeding up, and pistol is ok-ish.
  • I can run faster than that but I’m so wary of the holstered pistol I look like I’m walking on… not really sure, but it’s slow. Need to work on movement with the holster and getting confident with it on.
  • Plan is good, and shot as planned, but rifle has 4 mikes.
  • 18th out of 31.
  • On a positive note, the DAV-12 ran! Loaded the 20 rounder with 11 Fiocchi 1200fps 7.5 1-1/8oz topped off with 5 Federal 1330s. I’d use this combo for the rest of the match. Also applied some slide glide on the bolt carrier and hammer face the night before which I hope has smoothed up the action.

Stage 3

  • Rifle set to maybe 4-ish; clean.
  • Pistol ok, steel 1 for 1, shooting on the move, but splits could use some speeding up.
  • 10th

Stage 4

  • Slower on the rifle after the mikes from Stage 2, but now clean.
  • SG runs again. (same setup as S2)
  • 10th

Stage 5

  • Steel 1 for 1, shooting on the move and a good plan.
  • 7th

Stage 1

  • 440, 520 and 620. Little wind out so the second pass wasn’t as clean as the first. Good to know it’s setup right.
  • Second up to shoot and I’m too busy figuring out my holds to look at the SG setup, hence the haphazard ending.
    • Went up to 17 on the 20 rounder with 12 of the 1200s.
  • 11th

The Good

  • LR rifle verification.
  • SG running.
  • Stage planning.

Needs Improvement

  • Movement – quicker instead of being too ginger
    • be confident that the holster won’t let go of the pistol
    • run like you mean it
  • Splits, splits, splits

Finished 10th out of 31 and 6th out of 10 in Open.

Open Division

Open Division

  • Open Edge in .40SW using 155gr BB RN loads and Federal Syntech 165gr ammo (mostly this).

Stage 2

  • Good start, then I forget the reload after the trigger freeze on that side target.
  • After the rushed reload, my splits slow down. While ok for the targets on the move on the left, on the up close targets through the ports should’ve been faster.
  • 18th out of 53
  • Syntechs

Stage 3

  • Steel needs to be 1 for 1, even on the move.
  • Tight round count and I use up all my extras.
  • 17th
  • Syntechs

Stage 4

  • Good run, steel 1 for 1, target appropriate splits.
  • 4th.
  • Syntechs

Stage 5

  • Good start and good run except for the forced reload. Given a proper 9 major gun, no reload required.
  • 19th
  • Syntechs

Stage 1

  • Ok start, then 4 shots on that 1 steel. On the next bay, the other steel takes only 1. Go figure.
  • All the extras for the steel eat up my round count and I run dry. Good thing is it’s where the planned reload was supposed to be, albeit early now.
  • Mike on the headshot in the beginning. 25th.
  • Mix of syntechs and BB RNs.

The Good

  • Dryfire with the Open gun while shooting PCC pays off in that I have no issues with the dot.
  • Stage 4 – steel 1 for 1, good, target-appropriate splits
  • Good splits on the starting arrays, but usually slowing down afterwards.

Needs Improvement

  • Plan stages so there is less ‘down time’, mostly from lengthy travel.
  • Keep on challenging myself to go faster
  • Shooting on the move
  • Target appropriate splits

Finished 19th out of 55 overall and 9th out of 12 in Open.

PCC Division

  • ZRTS – Gibbz – Taccom 9mm PCC
    • Lower: ZRTS-1 9mm Glock lower, JP yellow springs, Blitzkreig hydraulic buffer with short stroke spacer, 308 carbine spring and MFT Minimalist stock
    • Upper: Gibbz side charger with Taccom extreme feed barrel with muzzle break and Taccom 9mm bolt
    • Bushnell TRS-25 primary and Vortex Venom secondary
    • BlB RN 125gr loads
    • ETS 40 round mags

Stage 2

  • Shaky on the first 2 targets,
  • After the first swinger, I can’t resist taking a peak at those first 2 again.
  • Get to the end and the swinger doesn’t. Reshoot…

  • Better start, shots deliberate.
  • Clean, 58th out of 265

Stage 3

  • 1 for 1
  • 86th

Stage 4

  • Looked good up until I was told I forgot to take my foot of the stomp pad. Both times.
  • 209th

Stage 5

  • Looked good until the last target – why so slow?
  • 45th

Stage 6

  • Start holding the Cap America shield with strong hand. I drop on the move to the right.
  • Good mix of shooting on the move and deliberate posting.
  • 75th.

Stage 7

  • Good start, up until I got hung up on that last steel.
  • Re-engaged the upper of the 2-stack.
  • 126th.

Stage 8

  • About as good as I could’ve shot it, save for speeding up on splits, transition, travel, and shooting on the move.
  • 103rd

Stage 9

  • First in the squad to run it, and aside from the usual, ran as good as I could.
  • 68th.

Stage 10

  • Deliberate and confident shots on the swingers.
  • 86th.

Stage 11

  • Everything is good except for the time spent on the swinger.
  • 104th

Stage 1

  • The plan was to keep on moving, then seeing the left targets through the windows. I should’ve just gone to the window and blazed.
  • The plan was to keep the small steel up last so I could shoot it after the last activator. Instead I dwell and fixate on it in the beginning.
  • 150th.

The Good

  • Clean shooting match except for the foot faults on Stage 4.
  • Best stage: 5 – 45th; Second: 2- 58 (1st stage, albeit a re-shoot)
  • Pretty good on the swingers when I was confident and called the hits (except for that on Stage 11).
  • No equipment issues.

Needs Improvement

  • Stab technique (dryfire)
  • Shooting on the move
  • More outdoor matches
  • Keep on challenging myself to go faster
  • Steel 1 for 1
  • Be less of an evening person

Finished 91st out of 266, 13th out of 33 in PCC, and 3rd out of 8 in B-class.

    • Lower: ZRTS-1 9mm Glock lower, JP yellow springs, Blitzkreig hydraulic buffer with short stroke spacer, 308 carbine spring and MFT Minimalist stock
    • Upper: Gibbz side charger with Taccom extreme feed barrel with muzzle break and Taccom 9mm bolt
    • Bushnell TRS-25 primary and Vortex Venom secondary
    • 125gr BlB loads
    • ETS 40 round mag

Cleaned the ETS mags and the MBX extended (but didn’t use them tonight).

Stage 2

  • Starts out good up until the end when I realized I forgot a target. Better engaged than FTSA.
    • Taking that extra is what probably threw me off the plan. Still, if I had the target sequence locked in, even taking an extra, I’d still get back on track.
  • 10th out of 53

Stage 3

  • The timing gods were with me for that maxtrap array.
  • Little jerky for those last 4 targets. There was an option to go way right to possibly see all 4, but the left-most was a tight shot, so I chose the 2 positions with the easier shots.
  • 5th

Stage 4

  • Great start, up until that last steel. I’d taken the further one before it on the move, and this one gives me trouble.
  • 7th.

Stage 1

  • Should’ve placed the muzzle more to the right edge of the wall to shorten the swing at the start.
  • Steel 1 for 1, a good start.
  • In this case, the target sequence is better locked in and I shoot as planned. Still flub the sequence on the 2 on the left corner.
  • 6th

The Good

  • All stages in the top 10
  • Stage 3 maxtrap array
  • More shooting on the move
  • Better target appropriate splits

Needs Improvement

  • Plan stages so there is less ‘down time’, mostly from lengthy travel.
  • Keep on challenging myself to go faster
  • Shooting on the move
  • Target appropriate splits

Finished 5th out of 53 overall and 3rd out of 7 in PCC.

USPSA, HSC, 2-9-20 (PCC)

February 9, 2020

PCC Division

  • ZRTS – Gibbz – Taccom (Z-G-T) 9mm PCC
    • Lower: ZRTS-1 9mm Glock lower, JP yellow springs, Blitzkreig hydraulic buffer with short stroke spacer, 308 carbine spring and MFT Minimalist stock
    • Upper: Gibbz side charger with Taccom extreme feed barrel with muzzle break and Taccom 9mm bolt
    • Bushnell TRS-25 primary and Vortex Venom secondary
    • Fiocchi 115gr ammo
    • ETS 40 round mag
    • 57rnd MBX extended ETS mag

Stage 5

  • On walking the stage, I saw that starting on the left side of the path allowed me to see the targets after just 1 step. Starting nearer the wall, a few steps in was needed before the targets were visible.
  • I pause after engaging the first no-shoot because I was looking at the target. Be confident in your shots, call the shots and just go.
  • Star needs a bit of cleanup.
  • Clean, 14th out of 51

Stage 1

  • Loaded up the MBX extended mag to about 50, because of the relatively high round count. With the 40 rounder, I’d only have about 6 extras. While loading the mag, it was giving me some resistance so I put a fully loaded 40 in my back pocket, just in case. Boy did I need it. Jammed after the first round, and it takes about 10 seconds to to fix and load the spare I brought.
  • Shot the plan, steel 1 for 1, and clean, but 10 seconds extra kills the run.
  • 22nd
  • Examining the MBX extended mag and the soot accumulated has caked the follower and the bottom 2 rounds, causing it to stick to the mag wall. The blowback system is dirty and mags receive a lot of dirty gasses as the bolt moves back. System need to be cleaned every now and then.

Stage 2

  • I’ve been dry firing with the PSA-JP PCC at home and not with the Z-G-T. The PSA doesn’t have a side dot (anymore – it was the Z-G-T’s TRS-25), so I didn’t/can’t dryfire with that. So on the first targets, because of the lean, I decide to use the side dot and I mistake glare for the dot. I notice this after a few shots so I make it up (after finding the actual dot). Also miked the upper target.
  • Everything else runs as planned.
  • 12th

Stage 3

  • Finally, a stage cleanly run.
  • 2nd

Stage 4

  • Shot as planned, but splits could use a bit more speed.
  • Too many charlies (9); 16th.

The Good

  • Identifying more stuff to improve.
  • A-class classifier on Stage 3.

Needs Improvement

  • Mag maintenance
  • Side dot dryfire
  • Work on the ‘stab’ method to help steady the rifle (dryfire)

Finished 12th out of 51 and 6th out of 10 in PCC.

PCC Division

  • ZRTS – Gibbz – Taccom 9mm PCC
    • Lower: ZRTS-1 9mm Glock lower, JP yellow springs, Blitzkreig hydraulic buffer with short stroke spacer, 308 carbine spring and MFT Minimalist stock
    • Upper: Gibbz side charger with Taccom extreme feed barrel with muzzle break and Taccom 9mm bolt
    • Bushnell TRS-25 primary and Vortex Venom secondary
    • 125gr BlB loads and Fiocchi 115gr ammo
    • ETS 40 round mag

Burning up what’s left of the Fiocchi’s and using my Blue Bullet loads.

Stage 2

  • Shooting on the move, few makeups along the way, with ok splits.
  • Clean, 10th out of 56

Stage 3

  • Shot the popper and 2 paper fast enough I had to wait for the maxtrap. I was fairly confident I actually shot it before it opened.
  • Fairly good splits.
  • 4th

Stage 4

  • Started out great on the steel – 1 for 1 and fairly quick.
  • Slowed down on the relatively close paper – why? Even with the no-shoots, cold be faster.
  • Clean, 4th.

Stage 1

  • Quick on the first 2 then a bit slower through the port for the next 2. After the slight shift to see the second through the port, acquiring it felt like forever, but wasn’t too bad as watched here.
  • Steel 1 for 1 and fairly quick.
  • Nicked the no-shoot near the end (why I screamed) but was close enough for me to see it hit the perf.
  • 9th

The Good

  • Stages 3 and 4
  • Steel 1 for 1 and quick
  • Generally good splits

Needs Improvement

  • Plan stages so there is less ‘down time’, mostly from lengthy travel.
  • Keep on challenging myself to go faster
  • Shooting on the move
  • Target appropriate splits

Finished 5th out of 56 overall and 4th out of 10 in PCC.

USPSA, TBSPC, 2-2-20 (PCC)

February 3, 2020

PCC Division

  • ZRTS – Gibbz – Taccom 9mm PCC
    • Lower: ZRTS-1 9mm Glock lower, JP yellow springs, Blitzkreig hydraulic buffer with short stroke spacer, 308 carbine spring and MFT Minimalist stock
    • Upper: Gibbz side charger with Taccom extreme feed barrel with muzzle break and Taccom 9mm bolt
    • Bushnell TRS-25 primary and Vortex Venom secondary
    • Mix: 124gr BB RN. 125gr BlB RN, Fiocchi 115gr, Federal Syntech 150gr ammo
    • ETS 40 round mag

Stage 5

  • Mix of BBs, BlBs and Fiocchis in the bottom
  • Box 1 and 2- good splits, good start
  • Box 3 – splits need to be appropriate for the target type; probably when the Fiocchi’s kicked in, with higher recoil impulse
  • Lost sequence for the last array – plan the path so the array is presented in the correct sequence
  • 13th out of 52

Stage 1

  • Fiocchi’s topped of with the last 10 Syntech 150s
  • On Make Ready, I should’ve clued in on the fact the first round got stuck chamber top. A second attempt did the same, so I forced it in by pressing on the top round so it wouldn’t hit the top of the chamber. First 2 shots feed fine, the third jams. It takes forever to fix as I strip all the Syntechs off the mag. I was confident the 10 would be fine so I didn’t even bring a backup mag. Maybe they weren’t 150s? Could’ve been 130s as those did the same a few matches back.
  • Once it got going, shot the plan. Too much time eaten; 56th.

Stage 2

  • Little bit off sequence approaching the end, but drove it back.
  • 10th

Stage 3 Classifier

  • Clean; 19th.

Stage 4

  • Planned for shortest travel and shot targets as they became available on the move, so the sequence wasn’t straight up L-R or R-L.
  • Shot the plan; 12th.

The Good

  • Shooting on the move
  • Stage 2
    • 90% on the move
    • Quick make-up on the missed steel, in time for the maxtrap
    • Not letting Stage 1 affect me
  • Keeping at it

Needs Improvement

  • No more Syntechs for this system.

Finished 17th out of 69 overall and 7th out of 16 in PCC.
