    • Mix of ammo:
      • 115gr Xtreme RN loads (4.0gr Titegroup, 1.10 OAL)
      • 125gr BlB RN loads (3.9gr WST, 1.1OAL)
      • 125gr Gallant RN loads (3.2gr Titegroup, 1.1OAL)
      • 124gr Xtreme RN loads (3.2gr Titegroup, 1.1OAL)

Thanks to Rob for taking the videos.

Stage 5

  • Planned to use up what was left of the 115s, only to have it hiccup on the 3rd round. Rather than clearing and keep on using (and maybe trying), I dump the mag and reload with known good Blue Bullet WSTs. Good thing I had an oh-shit mag in my back pocket. Still, time eaten.
  • Plan out the window (waiting for the maxtrap), differing splits on similar target types, makeups on steel… great start.
  • 33rd out of 65.

Stage 6

  • Setting the 115s aside for now. They had worked at IDPA last week, but I had used the 27 round TF-extended mag then. Maybe not in the ETS 40s?
  • Ran this with the remaining BlB WSTs.
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • 6th

Stage 1

  • The plan run isn’t my original. I copy from a fast run by an Open shooter on the preceeding squad. Bum rush everything.
  • Ok load from unloaded start, but I only connect with the activator on the 3rd shot.
  • I thought I nicked the second no-shoot on the left, but on inspection, I argue for a radial tear and succeed.
  • 24th

Stage 2 – Classifier

  • 2 strings, each starting on opposite sides.
  • I combine techniques gleaned from watching previous shooters:
    • Step and mount, but still have the side target visible.
    • Shoot the middle on the move so the other side is visible after the move.
  • 6th

Stage 3

  • All target-appropriate splits.
  • 6th

Stage 4

  • Shooting on the move at its limits for distance.
  • 17th

Stats: 96A, 30C, 9D

The Good

  • Stages 2, 3 and 6
  • Good Alpha count and clean match
  • Bringing extra ammo
  • Not letting the disaster of Stage 1 get to me.

Needs Improvement

  • Ammo and mag check for the Gibbz-Taccom-ZRTS system. Prep for PCC 2 gun Nats in June.

Finished 11th out of 65 overall and 4th out of 15 in PCC.

Open Division

Open Division

  • Open Edge in .40SW using 155gr Xtreme FN loads.
    • 155gr Xtreme plated flat nose
    • 7.5gr Longshot
    • 1.19OAL

Changed crimp from .419 to .421.

Stage 2

  • Overswung the second target and saw 1 delta, so I went back for the makeup.
  • Choppy in the middle.
  • 19th out of 42.

Stage 3

  • Tight headshot to start.
  • Trigger freeze to start at the second box.
  • Let ‘er rip, but tagged the no-shoot.
  • 30th.

Stage 4

  • Steel 1 for 1 (start and end).
  • On the move through the middle.
  • Clean, 9th.

Stage 1

  • On the move through most until the 2 on the right.
  • After leaving those 2 on the right, I re-engage the same target I shot before shooting those 2 on the right.
  • Splits for the last 2 need some speed at that distance.
  • At least it’s clean; 17th.

Stats: 43A, 34C, 6D, 1M, 1NS

The Good

  • Stage 4 – steel 1 for 1, respectable range to targets, clean run
  • Gun ran.

Needs Improvement

  • Better Alpha count.
  • Clean match.
  • More speed, more speed!

Finished 14th out of 42 overall and 8th out of 10 in Open.

IDPA, HSC, 4-17-21 (PCC)

April 20, 2021

PCC Division

  • PSA-JP 9mm PCC
    • Lower: PSA 9mm Glock lower, CMC 9mm trigger, Taccom magwell, JP 9mm Heavy SCSS and Magpul MOE SL stock
    • Upper: JP BCG, JP HG, JP brake, Anderson receiver, KVP barrel
    • Vortex Strikefire red dot and SIG light-(red) laser combo at 9 o’clock
    • 115gr Xtreme RN loads (4.0gr Titegroup, 1.10 OAL)
    • ETS 27rnd, TF extended 27rnd, and tan Glock 33rnd mag

Using up the 115gr Xtreme loads; sticking to 124s. Also, going back to IDPA as in PCC, the rules are essentially the same as in USPSA. Good, low round count PCC practice.

Forgot the hatcam, so no FP videos.

Stage 3

  • First mag loaded only with 6. 2 targets at 15yds.
  • 6, reload 6.
  • 1st out of 10.

Stage 4

  • Starting outside the house, I take the first 3 on the way to the door, but nick a no-shoot.
  • From the doorway, pie for the last inside the house (actually take the first one in the house before getting into position).
  • 1st

Stage 5

  • Disaster; but wait till the end…
  • Rain delay in between 4 and 5, hence the drooped heads in the video below.

  • Continuous double feed malfunctions using the tan 33rnd Glock mag. Had to strip the mag and clear the stoppage, only to have it happen again and again.
  • As luck would have it. the timer didn’t pick up the PCC’s shots. Tried again with a reshoot and this time, I use the 27rnd TF extended Glock mag and it works with no malfunctions. But the timer still doesn’t pick up the shots.

  • New timer, and we run the other shooters first and I go last, in case the new timer still didn’t work.
  • Changed sides on the starting barrel which allowed me to transition right into the second array.
  • 1st

Stage 1

  • 3 per target required.
  • Need to stand up quicker and transition quicker.
  • 1st.

Stage 2

Pistol run by Rob S.

  • Pistol shooters got to start inside the van. I was disappointed PCC had to start outside. It would’ve been good practice to shoot the carbine from inside the van.

  • 3 per target required.
  • Acquiring the tight shot between the no-shoots needs speeding up.
  • Thought I nicked the right no-shoot on the first target on the left, but learned later that the perf on an IDPA target is a tad wider; clean.
  • 1st.

Stats: 8pts down, 1 no-shoot

The Good

  • Finding out the tan 33 round mag isn’t reliable. I used it once at a match at the WAC and worked ok then. Maybe I used commercial ammo then?
  • Timer problems. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.

Needs Improvement

  • Quicker snapping up the carbine from start.
  • Quicker acquisition of tight shots.

Finished 1st out of 10 overall (lone PCC shooter).

Open Division

Open Division

  • Open Edge in .40SW using 155gr Xtreme FN loads and some older Bayou 155s (6.6gr Power Pistol).
    • 155gr Xtreme plated flat nose
    • 7.5gr Longshot
    • 1.19OAL (same as Bayou)

Primers seemed a little too low so held off on making more and only rolled 100 for today’s match.

Stage 1

  • Called the second shot high, so I took a makeup on the swing back. Didn’t need it.
  • Left side needs some speeding up.
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • 7th out of 40.

Stage 2

  • Good speed on the front targets.
  • Need more speed on the back targets, but the right 2 are as it should be.
  • 11th.

Stage 3

  • Good splits, finally.
  • 5th

Stage 4

  • About as quick as I could go.
  • Option to have used a step for the port near the end, which I declined.
  • 13th

Stats: 62A, 25C, 5D

The Good

  • Stages 2 and 3.
  • Speed on Stage 3 and 4.
  • Target appropriate splits.
  • Getting the gun up and ready before getting into position.
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • Gun ran – low primer fears allayed.

Needs Improvement

  • More speed, more speed!

Finished 6th out of 40 overall and 3rd out of 7 in Open.

Open Division

Open Division

  • Open Edge in .40SW using 155gr Xtreme FN loads and some older Bayou 155s (6.6gr Power Pistol).
    • 155gr Xtreme plated flat nose
    • 7.5gr Longshot
    • 1.19OAL (same as Bayou)

Changed out the 650 from 9 to 40. Loaded up 100 for tonight’s match.

Stage 1

  • Too fast on the steel, so needed 2 extras.
  • Impatient on the drop target so I shift to the left, only for it to quickly drop then go back. Should’ve waited. NPM.
  • 4th out of 37.

Stage 2

  • Looks good for the most part…
  • Steel on the move, so 2 extra is ok.
  • Mike-no-shoot on the right.
  • 24th.

Stage 3

  • Not the sequence I planned through the port, but made it work.
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • 3rd

Stage 4

  • Nice and quick.
  • 2nd

Stats: 58A, 25C, 2D, 2M, 1NPM, 1NS

The Good

  • Stages 1, 3 and 4
  • Speed on Stage 4.
  • Gun ran.

Needs Improvement

  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • Slow down on the no-shoots.
  • Stick to the plan. Or plan better so I don’t dither on the plan.

Finished 5th out of 37 overall and 4th out of 6 in Open.

Open Division

Open Division

  • Open Edge in .40SW using 155gr Xtreme FN loads and some older Bayou 155s (6.6gr Power Pistol).
    • 155gr Xtreme plated flat nose
    • 7.5gr Longshot
    • 1.19OAL (same as Bayou)

1 month of shooting CO, only to conclude my 9 loads aren’t reliable enough. Great for PCC though. Back to Open.

Stage 3

  • Nice and quick, but nicked the no-shoot on its way up.
  • Mike-NS; 31st out of 52.

Stage 4

  • Splits need some speed, then trouble with the steel I take while leaning. On the move through the middle would’ve been better.
  • Re-engaged the no-shoot stack as I swing left, then realized and corrected.
  • Mike on the right, back paper.
  • 10th.

Stage 5

  • Splits speeding up.
  • Option to take the steel from the back left, so when I connected on the first shot, I stuck to it. Closer probably would’ve yielded better results.
  • Clamshell is clean this time, as are the right hashes.
  • Originally planned to reload crossing left to right in the back, instead of moving forward on the right. The hash could’ve been shot on the move up. Hence the last shift to engage that hash. (Should’ve taken the no-shoot on the move)
  • 6th

Stage 1

  • Unloaded start, gun on the barrel.
  • Left side is good, then flubbed the reload. Got the mag in, but didn’t stick it.
  • Swingers are good, only 2 each, and no waiting.
  • On the move to end, but for some reason, the last one I shoot is a re-engage. I shot it already immediately after the reload.
  • Clean, 17th.

Stage 2

  • Good splits on the first 6, even with the no-shoots.
  • Slowing down for the further ones on the right. Still needs speed.
  • Steel needs to be 1 for 1.
  • Clean, 7th.

Stats: 77A, 38C, 7D, 1M, 1NS

The Good

  • Stage 2 – good splits; good ending for the day
  • Stage 5 – best stage for the day
  • On the move for Stage 1.
  • Gun ran.

Needs Improvement

  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • Splits need speeding up (Stage 3).
  • Stick the reloads!

Finished 9th out of 52 overall and 3rd out of 10 in Open.

PCC Division

  • PSA-JP 9mm PCC
    • Lower: PSA 9mm Glock lower, CMC 9mm trigger, Taccom magwell, JP 9mm Heavy SCSS and Magpul MOE SL stock

    • Vortex Strikefire red dot and SIG light-(red) laser combo at 9 o’clock
    • 125gr BLB RN loads (3.9gr WST, 1.1OAL)
    • ETS 40 round mag

Stage 2

  • 9 for the 7 steel. Need to be 1 for 1.
  • Gun needs to be up and ready getting into position on left side. (Better on right side)
  • Target appropriate splits.
  • 4th out of 39.

Stage 3

  • Good splits but transition needs speed. Better on the right side.
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • 3rd.

Stage 4

  • Point and shoot.
  • 5th.

Stage 1

  • Quick splits, but slowed down for the no-shoots.
  • Hard lean on the last, with the no-shoot to the right, also slowed splits.
  • 5th.

Stats: 64A, 18C, 3D

The Good

  • Great Alpha count
  • Good splits throughout, target-appropriate.
  • Shooting on the move
  • Keeping the gun up and getting it ready before coming into position
  • Gun ran

Needs Improvement

  • Steel 1 for 1
  • Clean match
  • ETS 40s stick, while the ETS 27 almost ‘auto-ejects’. Use the ETS 27 to start for required reloads.

Finished 3rd out of 39 overall and 1st out of 5 in PCC.
