PCC Division

  • ZRTS – Gibbz – Taccom 9mm PCC
    • Lower: ZRTS-1 9mm Glock lower, JP yellow springs, Blitzkreig hydraulic buffer with short stroke spacer, 308 carbine spring and MFT Minimalist stock
    • Upper: Gibbz side charger with Taccom extreme feed barrel with muzzle break and Taccom 9mm bolt
    • Bushnell TRS-25 primary and Vortex Venom secondary
    • Fiocchi 115gr and Federal Syntech 150gr ammo
    • ETS 40 round mag

Fiocchis always work, but I tested some of the Federal 150s lately to good results, so I decided to give them a try again.

Stage 1

  • Fiocchis
  • Good start but lost some time through the port. Just a tad bit out, so I nick the wood. I had planned to back up ‘just so’ to get into position for shots through the port but just missed.
  • 11th out of 52

Stage 2

  • Fiocchis
  • Planned out so I’d save a paper and steel from the last position where they were closer.
  • Mike on the 4th paper from the first array. Transitioned to and moved out of position too soon.
  • 9th

Stage 3

  • Fiocchis
  • Originally planned to start on the right with the middle taken on the move, I shifted as I saw other runs.
  • 10th

Stage 4

  • Syntech 150s
  • 90% on the move
  • Off sequence on the last few targets but compensated.
  • 6th

The Good

  • Syntech 150s back in the mix
  • Stage 6
    • 90% on the move
    • Steel 1 for 1
    • Best stage is the one I use the Syntechs with, coincidence?

Needs Improvement

  • Plan stages so there is less ‘down time’, mostly from lengthy travel.
  • Keep on challenging myself to go faster
  • Shooting on the move
  • Steel 1 for 1

Finished 9th out of 52 overall and 5th out of 10 in PCC.

PCC Division

  • ZRTS – Gibbz – Taccom 9mm PCC
    • Lower: ZRTS-1 9mm Glock lower, JP yellow springs, Blitzkreig hydraulic buffer with short stroke spacer, 308 carbine spring and MFT Minimalist stock
    • Upper: Gibbz side charger with Taccom extreme feed barrel with muzzle break and Taccom 9mm bolt
    • Bushnell TRS-25 primary and Vortex Venom secondary
    • BB RN 124gr loads and Fiocchi 115gr ammo
    • ETS 40 round and, 57rnd MBX extended ETS mag

Loaded up 350 rounds of the BB RNs and brought some Fiocchi’s for backup. Most of the stages averaged 30 rounds, but with a re-shoot, I eventually ended up mixing ammo on at least half the stages.

Stage 6

  • Good splits and pretty good, save for the hiccup on that 4th steel.
  • Clean, 71st out of 243

Stage 7

  • Makeup on the get go, then I throw the second shot into the no-shoot on the right, forcing a step back for another makeup.
  • So off I start throwing 3s in the end.
  • 111th

Stage 8

  • 2 plans – the standard ‘W’ of starting on either side, back, up the middle, back again, then up again; and this one. I reasoned that the less uprange running, the better. The advantage of back and forth is shooting on the move, and closer targets.
  • Again with the snap back for a makeup.
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • 136th

Stage 9

  • Side optic for the hard lean to start.
  • Side kick to get myself going right after the hard lean. I should work on doing the left foot push-off instead.
  • Only 2 on the tux swinger!
  • Felt great, looks good, but the timer didn’t pickup the last few shots, apparently, so re-shoot…

  • Front almost identical, even the side kick.
  • I wanted to start on the swinger this time so I changed the retreat run.
  • Tux swinger now shot 5 times. Splits slower after.
  • The first time worked out so great, I changed it up.
  • 80th

Stage 10

  • Started out great on the tux, but fell apart on the swinger. Instead of hitting the one on the left, I should’ve just waited for it as it was quick. Icing on the cake is another snap back to get 1 last hit on the swinger.
  • After that, I think I mentally checked out and my splits slowed down.
  • At least it was clean; 98th.

Stage 11

  • Not sure if this was the plan but it seemed so at the time.
  • Some in the middle left could’ve been shot on the move.
  • Activator could’ve been shot before leaving the right position and some of the others shot on the move going in.
  • Swinger only had 1 hit. 117th.

Stage 1

  • Hard lean to start, and even thought I checked doing it without mounting to the wall, I mounted to the wall, taking more time and then losing the dot.
  • Should’ve gone into the second gap rather than splitting it up to save travel.
  • Mike on the far 2-stack; 78th.

Stage 2

  • Had trouble acquiring the dot on shouldering. Need to practice shouldering while leaning.
  • Mike on the last target shot from the right; 157th.

Stage 3

  • Deliberate and solid at each position.
  • Clean; 89th.
  • Too improve:
    • First one on the move, followed by the lower (open) on the right moving in.
    • Static for the top, no-shoot covered on the stack, then on the move again for the 2 in the middle.

Stage 4

  • Good splits, steel 1 for 1.
  • 41st

Stage 5

  • More steel than usual, so I use the MBX extended mag.
  • First 2 should’ve been shot in reverse with the second in retreat.
  • After the run, first shot on the move in, as it always should. On exiting, I inadvertently perform a left foot push off (need to practice this more).
  • Second array would’ve been better shot with the far array and steel on entry, and the close one on the left on exit.
  • Right side plan is solid.
  • Clean, 89th.

The Good

  • No equipment issues.
  • Mixing ammo in the mag – 30 BB RNs with 10 Fiocchi in the bottom was supposed to be a cue for when I had hit the last 10. Never noticed.
  • Stage 4 – 41st best stage
    • good splits, shooting on the move, steel 1 for 1
  • Stage 6 – 71st second best
    • first stage of the match – no nerves
    • good splits, good timing on the drop turners

Needs Improvement

  • Stab technique (dryfire)
  • Shooting on the move
  • More outdoor matches
  • Keep on challenging myself to go faster
  • Steel 1 for 1
  • Be less of an evening person

Finished 91st out of 243, 16th out of 35 in PCC, and 3rd out of 8 in B-class.

    • Upper: Gibbz side charger with Taccom extreme feed barrel with muzzle break and Taccom 9mm bolt
    • Bushnell TRS-25 primary and Vortex Venom secondary
    • BB RN 124gr loads
    • ETS 40 round mag

Back to the BB RN loads. Tested at the classifier at Sunday’s HSC match, they were good to go. Softer than commercial, but a bit more than the Syntech PCCs.

Stage 2

  • Trigger freeze on the very first target.
  • Good through the middle port.
  • Steel needs to be 1 for 1.
  • Taking that extra head shot was worth it as I called a miss on that last target.
  • Clean, 11th out of 57

Stage 3

  • Good splits at the starting array.
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • 5th out of 51

Stage 4

  • No-shoot array felt slow so I speed up on the last, open target before exiting.
  • Middle on the move and good splits.
  • Slow again for the no-shoots, but could be faster.
  • 6th

Stage 5

  • Lots of ways to do this, so I chose mine. Lately I’d been deferring to others plans as they were better. If I’m convinced it’s better, I’ll ditch mine. But on this one, I wasn’t convinced. Was it?
  • 6th (apparently, yes)

Stage 1

  • Classifier. Due to the port, I figured I’d try out hip shooting using the laser.
  • Steel needs to be 1 for 1.
  • Get rid of the laser; it’s slower.
  • 27th

The Good

  • BB RN good to go!
  • Good splits even on the longer shots.
    • Stage 2, middle array
  • Planning – Stage 5
  • ZGT system feels so good, I feel the need for a 223 version now.

Needs Improvement

  • Keep on challenging myself to go faster
  • Shooting on the move
  • Steel 1 for 1

Finished 4th out of 57 and 2nd out of 13 in PCC.

    • Upper: Gibbz side charger with Taccom extreme feed barrel with muzzle break and Taccom 9mm bolt
    • Bushnell TRS-25 primary and Vortex Venom secondary
    • Fiocchi 115gr ammo
    • ETS 40 round mag

Stage 4

  • First to shoot, but I have a decent plan.
  • Good splits even for the longer than WAC distances.
  • Steel 1 for 1.
  • Clean, 10th out of 52

Stage 5

  • Mag in, chamber empty, gun on barrel.
  • Unsure on that moving shot in the middle, I take 2 extra shots which I didn’t need.
  • 9th

Stage 1

  • Good, appropriate splits.
  • 7th

Stage 2

  • Extreme lean to start, so I use the side dot.
  • Incorrect order on the first steel array so I improvise. Much better on the second array.
  • Good splits then slows down in the end for the other extreme lean.
  • 9th

Stage 3

  • I thought I turned on the camera, but no footage.
  • Classifier: engage front and steel array, then perform mandatory reload and engage back paper array. (alternatively, back array can be engaged first, followed by reload then front array and steel)
  • Using some freshly loaded BB RN 124gr ammo to test. First mag is 17 round Glock mag, and reload is with 27 round TF extended mag.
  • Reload could be smoother as the mag doesn’t drop freely.
  • BB RN loads work fine and are softer than the Fiocchis.
  • 14th

The Good

  • Fiocchi 115gr for the Blitzkreig system proven again, but BB RNs might be better in the long run.
  • Stage 1
    • Best time-wise but also the most charlies
  • Stage 4
    • Shooting on the move and quick, up-close
  • Good splits throughout

Needs Improvement

  • Make BB RN primary ammo
  • Work on reloads (dryfire)
  • Work on the ‘stab’ method to help steady the rifle (dryfire)

Finished 6th out of 52 and 2nd out of 12 in PCC.

    • Bushnell TRS-25 primary and Vortex Venom secondary
    • Fiocchi 115gr ammo
    • ETS 40 round mag

After a few matches of failures with the new system and resorting to backups, the new system finally runs. On 1-3-20 at the WAC, the gun had so many dead triggers (hammer failed to reset), rather than prolong the agony, I just left since I didn’t bring a backup. On 1-7-20, with the old upper and the Taccom delayed blowback short-stroke lower, I had the same amount of dead triggers, I eventually used Lee’s MBX PCC for remaining 3 stages. Even then, it was so bad I chose not to log the match. At least it identified the issue: Syntech 130 PCC is borderline for the Taccom DBSS and the Blitzkreig systems. So for these systems, ‘nuclear’ is the way.

Forgot the hatcam, no vids.

Stage 1

  • Start on the left, 4 paper array.
  • Run forward for 6, then run back uprange for the right array and the remaining 2 stack in the middle.
  • Clean, 7th out of 51

Stage 2

  • Start straddling stick, loaded gun on barrel a few feet ahead. After picking up the gun, engage the one directly in front as I move right.
  • From the right, plate rack and 1 paper.
  • Run to the left for the 3 in the port and finish moving right down the middle for the last 2.
  • 6th

Stage 3

  • Start on dots and immediately scoot to the right, in front of the wall edge so middle array is now visible. Shoot left array then middle array on the move.
  • Continue on the move for the first 2 on the right array and finish on the last at the extreme right.
  • 6th

Stage 4

  • Start on the furthest, then the 2 up close.
  • Run down the line and start on the single on the left, then the 3 through the first port.
  • Hit the no-shoot stack on the move to the right, then 3 more through a port.
  • Finish on the 3 on the right.
  • 9th

The Good

  • Finally, the new gun finishes a match and well!
  • Fiocchi 115gr for the Blitzkreig system
  • Stages 1-3
  • Stages 3 and 4
    • Challenging myself to shoot fast and on the move. I actually changed my plans on both stages to what looked like the faster way

Needs Improvement

  • Keep on challenging myself to go faster
  • Shooting on the move

Finished 6th out of 51 and 5th out of 12 in PCC.
